Book Donations

Next Book Sale will take place:

Fall 2017 – Oct 14th and 15th
Maritime Hall, Halifax Forum

During the summer The Book depot will be closed for July and August except for the first Saturday (Note the first Saturday in July is Canada’s Birthday so we will be closed; we will be open Saturday August 5th 2017).

For our major fundraiser we rely on the generous donation of good quality, gently used books and CDs from the public. Below are specifics as to the type and condition of the donations required as well as the details of the location and times our Book Depot is open.  Please note we continue to collect donations all year.

Wanted clean, gently-used books recent fiction, paperbacks, mysteries, history, travel, biographies, science fiction, children & youth, hobbies, old & interesting, coffee table books, etc., as well as CDs and DVDs.
**We really appreciate your donations but please remember that smelly, dusty and/or moldy books cannot be put on sale and they are a health risk for our volunteers who have to sort and prepare them for disposal.  As of April 2017 we have to pay to take recycling to the city depot.

NOT Accepted – because they do NOT sell: Encyclopaedias, book sets (Time Life, Books of Knowledge, etc.), Readers Digest condensed books, ex public library books, text books, tapes, vinyl records and magazines. Soiled, moldy, dusty and smelly books will be discarded – note we do send the paper for recycling when we can, however, we now have to pay to recycle amounts over 50Kg.

Book Depot – Location:
Our Book Depot in the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, 6199, Chebucto Road.  Use the basement door located near the cross walk on Chebucto Road across from Chebucto Lane.  A large yellow sign will be posted outside the building door when there is someone present to receive the books.  In case of closure due to weather a notice will be posted on our facebook page and the first page of the website.
